WILLIAM WILLIAMSON DIES AFTER CAR CRASH IN IOWA
William Williamson, 53, former Toulon resident and brother-in-law of W. M.
Hoag of this place, died late Saturday afternoon in a hospital at Chariton,
Iowa, following a motor car accident in which his wife, the former Gertrude Hoag
of Princeville and daughter Gwendolyn, 28, were injured, although not seriously.
The car driven by his wife is said to have plunged into a ditch when the
wheels skidded on the shoulder of the road after passing a truck. Mr. Williamson
received crushing injuries to his head and body as he was caught under heavy
luggage as the car overturned.
Mrs. Williamson suffered a broken arm while the daughter received minor
injuries.
They were returning to Toulon from Iowa, where Mr. Williamson had been
operating a concession with a carnival.
Besides his wife and daughter who ere with him at the time of the accident;
Mr. Williamson is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Forrest Wharry of St.
Louis, Mo., his father, Edward G. Williamson of Toulon, Ill., and a brother
Victor Williamson of Hialeah, Florida.
The body was brought to the Kidd funeral home in Toulon the first of the
week, where services will be held Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in Toulon
cemetery.
Mr. Williamson had visited in Princeville many times and was well and
favorably known here and the many friends of the family extend sincere sympathy.
