Hold Rites Tuesday For Craven S. Wade; Burial at LaFayette

Funeral services fro Craven S. Wade, 70, of Galva, and a former LaFayette resident, were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at Johnson & Gill chapel in Galva.

Mr. Wade died Sunday morning at Galesburg St. Mary’s hospital where he had been a patient since last Wednesday night. He had been in ill health the past three and a half years.

Masonic rites were conducted by Stark lodge No. 501, A.F. & A.M., of LaFayette.

Interment was in LaFayette cemetery.

Rev. Harold L. Thrall, pastor of Galva Methodist church, officiated.

Mr. Margaret Martin and Mrs. Frances Kennelly, of LaFayette, sand “Ivory Palaces” and “No Night There.” They were accompanied by Mrs. Verna B. Anderson, of Galva.

Body bearers were Glenn R. Swank, Leonard Brown, Virgil Morgan, Roger Anderson, George Much and Corliss Ingels.

Was Born Near Lafayette

Mr. Wade was born April 21, 1887, near LaFayette, only child of Francis M. and Nellie Wade.

He attended LaFayette schools and had spent the greater part of his life in that community.

His marriage to Della Claybaugh took place in 1910 at Toulon and for several years Mr. Wade was salesman for a LaFayette garage.

Later the couple moved to a farm three and one-half miles southwest of Galva, but because of failing health they moved to Galva about three years ago, residing at 25 Southwest Ninth avenue.

Survivors include Mrs. Wade; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Kellett (Frances) of Galva, and one grandson.

Mr. Wade was a member of First Methodist church in Galva and was affiliated with Masonic lodge in LaFayette.
