Funeral Services For Former Resident Are Held Friday

Mrs. Elsie C. Harlan Somerville, 66, of 1003 E. Elmhurst Ave., Peoria, died at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday in St. Francis hospital where she had been a patient since April 7, 1956.

Born south of Dunlap November 12, 1889, she was the daughter of Harrison and Hannah L. Harlan.

For the last year she has resided with Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Ferdinand in Peoria.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Amy Shehan of Dunlap; five step-children; and several nieces and nephews and grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1 in the Schreiner Mortuary in Dunlap. Burial was in Prospect cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ralph Harlan, Harold Harlan, Gaylord Harlan, Clifford Harlan, Newell Livingston, and Lawrence Shehan.

Services were conducted by Rev. Richard C. Mader, pastor of the Methodist church in Dunlap.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Alice Russell of Peoria at the organ. Dennis Swartz of Albian, Iowa, was soloist.

Among those attending the services were Mrs. Pearl Devick and daughter Donna of Marshalltown, Iowa, Mrs. Dorothy Mellrath and Patricia of Spencer, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sumerville and son of Fl., Leonard Wood, Mo., and Mrs. Imogene Kenson of Normal.
