Former Resident Of Duncan Dies In Winterset, Iowa
John Wesley Graves, 84, of Winterset, Iowa, died
Christmas Day at 1:15 in his home.
He was born one mile west of Duncan on the Graves
homestead July 5. 1870, a son of Joseph and Mary Jane (Whitten) Graves. He was
married to Nannie Briggs February 26, 1896. They started up housekeeping where
Edward Best now lives and live there for eight years, then moving to Winterset,
Iowa, where they have live for 50 years.
Surviving are his widow; one son Earl; two daughters
Mrs. Ollie (Ethel) Haines and Mrs. Ralph (Mary) Ham, all of Winterset, Iowa;
seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Alice Best of
Toulon; three brothers, Marion of Winterset, Iowa, Theodore and Eliza of
Mr. and Mrs. Elza Graves, Theodore Graves and Edward
Best attended the funeral services.
