Last Rites For James H. Graves Will Be Thursday
Last rites for James H Graves, 58, a prominent Wyoming farmer who died in the
Methodist hospital in Peoria at 5 p.m. Monday, will be held in the Wyoming
Congregational church at 2 p.m., with Joseph W. Carroll, pastor of the church,
officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Wyoming AF & AM lodge 479.
Interment will be in the Wyoming cemetery.
Wyoming resident were shocked
Monday morning to learn of the serious illness of Mr. Graves, who
apparently suffered a stroke about 4 o’clock that morning. He was taken
to the Methodist hospital and passed away that evening.
A son of
Simeon Arthur and Susan A. Cornell Graves, he was born in Stark county
October 30, 1903. He attended the local schools and was graduated from
the Wyoming Community high school. He was united in marriage to Margaret
Hibbard in November 1933.
He had been a member of the Sandham
Community Consolidated grade school board of education for the past nine
years. He was a member of the Wyoming Masonic lodge, the Scottish Rite
body of Peoria and the Mohammed Shrine.
He is survived by his wife; a
daughter, Mrs. Sue Ann Dehoruty of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, John and
William; his father; one grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Geneva Dixon
and Mrs. Emma King of Wyoming.
Preceding him in death were his mother
and a brother William.
Friends may call at the Cox Memorial Home after
4 p.m. today and the body will lie in state in the Congregational church
for an hour before the services.
