Mrs. H. Lee Cox 64, at Life’s End; Rites Wednesday
Funeral services for Mrs. H. Lee Cox, lifelong resident of Stark
county and the Duncan community, were held Wednesday afternoon, Oct 31,
at 2:30 in the Kidd funeral home in with Rev. P. Henry Lotz, pastor of
the Toulon Methodist church, in charge. Burial was in the Stringtown
cemetery. Pallbearers were P. F. Chafee, Walter W. Gingrich, Elgin Mahle,
Bernard Miller, Sherman Hill and Homer Graves.
Mrs. Cox passed
away Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock in her home in Duncan, following
an illness of short duration.
The daughter of Peter and Josephine
Olson, Emma Matilda Olson was born Dec. 27, 1881, near Duncan. She
attended rural schools and grew to young womanhood in that community.
She was united in marriage to H. Lee Cox on Dec. 12, 1912, in a
ceremony performed in Peoria. Two daughters were born to this union,
Vera, who preceded her mother in death, and Mrs. Josephine Bouton of
Duncan. Her husband died October 10, 1942.
Mrs. Cox was a member
of the Methodist church.
She is also survived by a brother, John
S. Olson of Peoria, and a sister Mrs. Hilma Colwell of LaFayette.
