Rock Island Argus .....Funeral services for Mrs Alma Martin 74, Viola IL who died Sunday at the Pathway Hospice Unit, Moline Lutheran Hospital, will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Reiser Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo. Rev Robert Hale , pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene Aledo and Rev. H. Gordon Barrick, pastor of the Green Rock Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be in the New Boston Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left for the First Church of the Nazarene, Aledo; The American Cancer Society or Pathway Hospice Unit.
The former Alma Bethell was born March 4, 1910 in Oxly, MO., a daughter of John L. and Alice Autry Bethell.
She married Lester Baldwin Martin, December 24, 1930 in Aledo. For a number of years Mrs Martin owned and operated her own bakery and specialized in making wedding cakes in her home. She was previously employed by Servus Rubber company and the Ninth Street Nursery, both in Rock Island. She and her husband lived in Little York before moving to Viola IL. She was a former officer and board member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Aledo Surviving are her husband; a son Neal L. Martin, Milan; two grandsons; a gr grandchild; four sisters, Bessie Randolph, Effie Paul, both of Viola; Martha Dillbeck, Chandler AZ; Ida Swift, Milan; three brothers, George and Jim Bethell both of Aledo IL and John Bethell Arizona.
