William Wetzel


William Allen Wetzel, 70, of Weslaco, Texas, formerly of the Macomb area, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1993 at the Sno-to-Sun Trailer Park here.

He was born Dec. 1, 1922 near Tennessee, to Roscoe Ivan and Leona (Simmons) Wetzel. He married Elsie Louise Seymour July 15, 1943. She survives.

He is also survived by his mother in LaHarpe; a daughter Mrs. Ed (Linda) Graham of Bloomington; three sons, Lewis Allen of Kingman, Ariz., Roger Ivan of Rock Springs, Wyo. and Ronald Eugene of Colchester; two brothers, Robert E. of Blandinsville and Wendell R. of Stronghurst; three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Marilyn) Raymond of rural Monmouth, Mrs. Eldon (Evelyn) Yard of LaHarpe and Mrs. Shirley Shafer of Kewanee; 11 grandchildren; and three step- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Phillip Duane.

Mr. Wetzel was an auto mechanic until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion, NRA, and AF and AM. He was a charter member of the McDonough County Police Auxillary for 19 years, serving as captain of the unit for 14 years. He had served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorial services will be held Sunday in Weslaco. A family service will be held at a later with interment in Colchester.
