Table Grove, April 16 - At 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon was held the funeral of J. Newton Wetzel, a prominent and highly esteemed business man of this city, whose death occurred Monday afternoon, following several weeks of suffering from septic poisoning.

J. N. Wetzel was born January 15, 1860, in New Salem Township, McDonough county, where he lived and grew to manhood on a farm. In 1889(16 July) he married Miss Rozinne Thompson, who survives. For the past twenty years he had been connected with the N. T. Willis Lumber company of Table Grove, and for a number of years had been president of the company.

He was a successful business man of unimpeachable integrity and highly valued neighbor and friend. He was a member of the Universalist church and fraternally was a member of the K. of P. lodge. There survive one daughter, Onida, at home, and four brothers - Ed of Little Rock, Ark.; George and Irvin of New Salem township, Allen of near Colchester - and one sister, Mrs. Frank Toland, of Leavenworth, Kansas.
