Samuel E (Sam) Walters, 79, of Bushnell died
early today [Oct. 4, 1957] in St. Francis
Hospital, Macomb, following nine years of ill
Born near Marietta
on April 24, 1878, he was a son of Isaac N. and
Celia Ann (Yocum) Walters. He was first married
to Ella Murphy, who preceded him in death, and
then to Mary Frances Schoonover in 1912 in
the widow, four children, Mrs. Letha Mosher,
Canton; Mrs. Olivine Rogers, Bushnell; Emmett
Walters, Hamilton and Clarence Walters,
Marietta; three step-children, Elmer Howerter,
Alaska; Mrs. Lenora Arnold, Bushnell; and Ollie
Paul, Canton; 23 grandchildren, four
great-grandchildren; a twin brother, William
Walters, Table Grove; another brother, Charles E
Walters, Bushnell and several nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by two
children, two brothers and three sisters.
He had been a member
of the Bushnell IOOF lodge and had lived here
for 13 years. He formerly was a rural mail
carrier near Marietta.
will be conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon
in the Martin Funeral home by the Rev. W.W.
Marzahn. Burial will be in Mound cemetery near
Members of the
family will greet friends at the funeral home
from 7:30 to 9 o'clock Saturday evening.
