Alvin Pollock


C. Alvin Pollock, 98, of Rural Route #3, Rushville, passed away at 2:37 a.m. Sunday, August 5, 2007 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born on February 6, 1909 in Scotland Township, McDonough County to George W. and Cora Ann Spear Pollock. He married Clarissa Wilson of Industry on December 18, 1930 in Monmouth. They were married 45 years before she passed away on January 4, 1976. He later married Freida Rohn on March 16, 1979 in Virden, Illinois. She passed away on October 27, 1997.

He is survived by one son; George (Dona) Pollock of Rushville, two daughters; Lois Moon of Brownfield, Texas and Doris Pollock of Odessa, Texas, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great­grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one son; Lawrence Pollock, one grandson; Timothy Pollock, one brother; Ralph Pollock and two sisters; Genevieve Wetzel and Mary Fyfe.

He lived most of his life in the Macomb area before moving to Rushville in 1970. He farmed and was a horseman all of his life. He worked for Jenning’s Sale Barn in Macomb for 19 years.

He was baptized and was a member of the former Camp Creek Presbyterian Church now known as the Scotland Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am. Thursday, August 9, 2007 at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverends Harold Hedden and Donald C. Moon officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to either the Scotland Trinity Presbyterian Women or the McDonough District Hospital.
