Hattie Rose (Brown)
Haggerty, was born February 13, 1872 on a farm
four miles east of Adair and passed away at her
home in Adair at 9:30 a.m. March 1, 1938 at the
age of 67 years and 16 days.
She was the daughter
of H. C. and Martha Brown, who with four
brothers and sisters, L.A., Minnie, Charles and
an infant sister, have preceded her in death. A
sister, Mrs. Daisy France of Hedrick, Iowa
survives.
On October 22, 1896,
she was united in marriage to James Haggerty of
Walnut Grove, Ill. To this union were born five
children Leo Willis who died in infancy, L.
Marie Lansdown of Adair; Myrtle C Hoffman of
Lewistown, Ralph C and Clarence E at home, who,
with her husband mourn her loss. She leaves
three grandchildren, Gerald Lansdown, Jimmy and
Charlene Hoffma; besides a host of relatives and
friends who are saddened by her passing.
Mrs. Haggerty spent
her entire life in Adair and vicinity except for
eight years after her marriage which she spent
near Walnut Grove, Ill. She was a member of the
Adair United Brethren church to which she was a
very loyal and faithful member as long as her
healthy would permit.
Funeral services
were held from the U. B. church in Adair at 2:00
p.m. Friday, Rev. L. B. Henderich officiating.
Interment in Bushnell cemetery.
