Ralph Carson


Colchester - Ralph V. Carson, 88, Colchester, died today in McDonough District Hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the United Methodist Church Here. The Rev. William VanMeter will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Friends may call at Jones Mortuary anytime after 10 a.m. Tuesday and at the church Wednesday until time of services. Memorials may be made to the Colchester United Methodist Church or Colchester Senior Citizens Center.

He was born Jan. 1, 1897, in Colchester, a son of George and Sarah Smith Carson. He was a lifetime resident of the Colchester area and was a retired farmer and insurance agent. He was a World War I veteran and member of Colchester United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens.

He first married Miriam L. Wetzel April 29, 1922. She died July 26, 1971. He then married Lola Heikes in 1972. She survives.

Surviving also are two step-children, Junior R. Heikes of Greenville and Twila Icenoigle of San Antonio, Texas; seven step-grandchildren; a brother, Zanel of Macomb, and a sister, Maude Hodges also of Macomb.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Galen and Asa; and three sisters, Cora Gallagher, Forest Cordell and Gracie Carson.
