HAVANA -- Arlene Schaeffer, 80, of 627 E. Main died at 7:01 a.m. Monday, July 6, 1992, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Born Oct. 16, 1911, in Mason County to George and Grace Sarff Blessman, she married Floyd "Ben" Schaeffer on Feb. 1, 1930, in Virginia, Ill.

He survives, along with five daughters, Barbara "Bobbie" Hess of Canton, Rita Smith and Joyce Foster, both of Havana, Janice Vanderveen of Kilbourne and Linda Witt of Chillicothe; four sons, Richard "Dick" of Sunnyland, Danny of Canton, Donald of Havana and Charles "Chuck" of Brimfield; one brother, Freeman Blessman of Bath; one sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Lora) Conklin of Havana; 16 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild. One brother preceded her in death.

She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Hopewell and Royal Neighbors of America.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bath.

Memorials may be made to her church or Fairview Cemetery Fund.
