BATH -- Velma Sarff, 97, of Bath died at 1:15 a.m. Friday, July 5, 1996, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Born Jan. 21, 1899, in Lynchburg Township, Mason County, to John and Rose Chambers Blessman, she married Paul A. Sarff on April 26, 1918. He died May 22, 1968. Five sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, JoAnn Dobbs of Bath; two sisters, Ruby Sarff of Springfield and Mrs. W.W. (Marge) Lynn of Oakford; two nephews, Emery Sarff of Springfield and Donald Sarff of Sun City, Ariz., whom she raised; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in rural Bath and Modern Woodmen of America.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at her church. The Rev. Norman Fletcher will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Burial will be in Snicarte Cemetery in Snicarte.
