BATH - Carroll "Barney" R. Blessman, 84, of rural Bath died at 12:50 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.

Born Nov. 25, 1919, in Lynchburg Township to Raymond and Alta Sarff Blessman, he married Ruth Friedrich July 18, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Bill (and Vicky) of Manito and Doug (and Debbie) of Bath; two daughters, Linda (and Don) Udey and Jill Blessman, both of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Blessman.

He was a farmer.

He was a 50-year member of Chandlerville Lodge 724 A.F. and A.M. and Chandlerville Eastern Star 544, and was an honorary member of Havana Lodge 88 A.F. and A.M. and Cass Lodge 544. He also was a member of the Farm Bureau, Ansar Shrine of Springfield, Damascas Commandry 42, Royal Arch Chapter 86 and Canton Council Select Masters 23, and served several years as supervisor of Lynchburg Township in Mason County.

He was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Havana.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at his church. The Revs. Phillip Lewis and James Fedosuk will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his church, Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital or the Mason District Hospital.
